Part 3: A crimson dress for the bride
Chapter 11: I would let my feet rot for your love
In any case, if I was going to fascinate someone, I might as well enjoy the process.
Fascination itself was not excessively difficult once such superfluous pride was discarded.
Now that I knew how to use the power of a vampire - the manipulation of "shadows" - it was easy to break into a building.
Blending my figure into the dark shadows and making sure no one could see me -- perhaps it was no surprise that vampires were called the kings of the night since they could perform such feats.
I used this power to sneak into the residence of a noble called Lindforg, who lived in the north of the city.
I was specifically looking for the eldest daughter of that household, Ainelinne Lindforg.
I heard that she was called "Ai" from her close companions, though there were only one or two such people.
Anyhow, she was the archetype of a noble, who would look down on people of lesser standing than hers without hesitation, whether they be other nobles, let alone a commoner.
Combined with blonde twintails in vertical rolls, it was as if she was a character coming straight out of a manga.
But even that sort of girl-- she looked lovely once she was asleep.
The unraveled blond hair reminded me of Nunnally, and I wondered if Ainelinne would become a bit more docile if we were to become a vampire as well.
*Thump* *Thump* *Thump*
Energy is sent from me into Ainelinne as soon as our skins made contact.
She was falling in love in me in her dreams.
I wouldn't be there when she woke up.
But her feelings for someone whose face she did not know would be dwelling in her heart before she became aware of it.
It was not unlike a ticking bomb.
A hopeless bomb which would detonate the moment she would see me, making her emotions towards me overflow in an explosive manner.
"Ainelinne....... no, Ai. I wonder what kind of pitiful figure you will show me."
I continued to hold her hand like this until dawn was around the corner.
Will the mark proving her capture emerge the day after tomorrow, or the day after that?
It was really boring to just hold hands, and because I had stopped at another place before coming to his mansion, it was no wonder I was a little tired, no matter how much of a Demi-Vamp I was.
Even in such a situation, time passed quickly as I imagined what kind of bewitched expressions the future Ai would show me in the future.
◇◇◇
When I returned to the church the next morning, I sank down on the sofa with Eris and we played around, as I contemplated how I would spent the day, which would most certainly be calm.
Of course, because I didn't put much effort yesterday with Relie, so she wouldn't be visiting the church so soon after.
Should we just spend the day touching Eris?
As I was beginning to relax, listening to her purring as I stroked under her chin-- a knocking sound reminiscent of yesterday interrupted us.
The culprit was, of course, Nunnally.
"Aruji-sama, it looks like Relie has come, what would you like to do?"
"Muu..... Another time!"
While Eris was not happy that her time alone with me had been interrupted, on th contrary, I was smiling with satisfaction.
It appeared that she had come to trust me more than I expected due to yesterday's exchange.
I hadn't expected her to come back two days in a row.
If I held her hand today as well, some love would inevitably grow inside her, and when that happened, Relie would no longer be able to stay away from me.
To cherish or to destroy. I was free to do either.
With the promise to make it up to Eris later, I left her to cuddle Nunnally instead of me, and they immediately start groping each other's bodies. Meanwhile, I went to meet with Relie, who was waiting for me in the chapel.
She was not praying to God, and instead with waiting for me a bench. She appeared depressed, probably worried if I would find her constant visit a nuisance.
To wipe away such negative feelings from her, I sat down next to her and said.
"I am glad to see you so soon, Relie."
"I wasn't bothering you?"
"It can't be. I was feeling lonely when I thought that we probably wouldn't meet today."
When I said this while holding her hand naturally, it seemed a load was taken off her chest.
"Come to think of it, you mentioned yesterday that you had other matters to discuss. Did you come today about those?"
"Yes... maybe it's not a good idea to talk to Chigusa about it. But still, I just wanted someone to hear me out."
"You don't mean... could it be that someone is opposed to your marriage with Dick?"
"Eh? H-how did you know? I didn't even tell that to Nunnally...."
"I was thinking about Relie, and it came to me naturally."
"Thinking about me......."
Of course, it was a lie.
I had got this information from someone other than Nunnally, but did it really matter at this point if it was true or false?
Everything was for the sake of making Relie happy to see me, and to gain her trust.
"Somehow, it's like Chigusa can see right through me."
"That can't be, I am not that wise."
"You are being modest again. Well, it feels much better to have someone who understand how I feel, so thank you."
"Rather than holding it in, letting it out will make you feel lighter, right?"
"Yes..... yes, that must be true!"
Relie muttered to herself.
Seeing her wonder if she should tell me, it seemed that she was sill conflicted about whether I should get involved or not.
I smiled softly, slightly increasing my grip on her hand to give her a push.
I told silently that I would accept everything.
Then, after some hesitation, Relie began to speak with a serious face.
"Actually, the ones who are against my marriage with Dick are his mother and his big sister."
"Your step-mother and step-sister then? What about his father?"
"He looked to be in favor. Though Dick said that the reason was that he have a plan to extend his power by having a commoner marry in."
In short, not a single person was honestly in favor of this marriage.
It was only natural, since there was no merit in marrying a commoner for nobles.
Rather, there was too much to gain for Relie.
"They must be thinking that I am after their money...."
"But it is not the case, right?"
" ..Yes......."
Her reply was not very clear.
This was not surprising, because Relie had a reason to need that money.
Relie had a younger sister named Milly.
Due the weak constitution she had had since childhood, it was not rare for her to spend almost all day long in her bed at home, even to this day.
The cost of her medical treatment was stupidly high, and thus the family had been forced to live in poverty.
However, if Relie became a noble, everything would change.
I was likely that Milly was the reason that she had agreed to marry Dick.
She thought that her love was pure, and that she wanted to be together with him for her whole life.
However-- it was a fact hat there were elements which could lead people to think that she would marry him for his money.
It was no wonder that her mother-in-law and sister-in-law were being suspicious, and above all-- Relie herself was unsure about her own motivations.
Was she really in for the money? Was marrying Dick only a mean to obtain money for her sister's medical treatment? Such thoughts could only arise in her mind.
In short, this was the reason for her pre-nuptial doubts.
Now that I knew the reason, all I had to do was to take advantage of this weakness.
It should be the logical path, especially considering what had happened with Eris and Nunnally. However, I deliberately chose to take a different approach.
....... I wanted to try a different game than I had been doing up until now.
"But, somewhere deep in your heart, you suspect that you really approached Dick for his money."
"How... can you tell?"
"I thought that might be the case, because Relie is kind. So I was right?"
"Me, kind...... No, it's because I am despicable that I am thinking like this!"
"People that are truly despicable do not even feel guilty. The fact that Relie is suffering like this is the proof of your kindness."
"No way......"
Seeing that she still remained unconvinced-- I stood up and embraced Relie's head of my chest.
"W-wait, this is happening again!"
As expected, she seemed flustered.
I was aware that I was being aggressive, but she trusted me, then this way should be effective.
To further convince her, I stroked her head and spoke softly to her.
"Dick is a noble, and therefore has a good eye. If she still befriended Relie, then it can't be only about money, can it? I am sure that if you keep being sincere in your attempts to persuade them, then both your mother-in-law and your sister-in-law will understand!"
"Is.... that so."
"Of course. And if that does not work, it would mean that they were blind, despite being nobles. Then, we will welcome you in this church."
"We will always welcome you with pleasure, Relie."
These words are the final push.
Relie put her arms around my back-- finally, she appeared to have completely opened up.
Haa.... I really wanted to take her into our room and to have more skin-to-skin contact with her.
At this point, I wonder if a mere two hours would be enough to corrupt her.
I could only imagine Relie, trembling with shame from the betrayal of her fiancee, but still unable to resist my fingers caressing her bare skin, and moaning was she twitched and squirmed in pleasure--
However, I chose this path myself.
I would be troublesome if I didn't hold back here and lost control. All my preparations would be wasted.
I had to be patient.
"Thank you, Chigusa. Thanks to you, I feel much better!"
"You are welcome. I also feel much better after talking with Relie."
"Really? You aren't just saying that, right?"
"Not at all, I really mean it with all my heart. Because I really like Relie."
"Me too, I also like Chigusa. If you don't mind, I would like to meet you again, even if I don't have anything to discuss...... would that be fine?"
"I will always be waiting for you. If you don't come to see me too often, then I might have to come barging in instead? "
"Then, should I just wait for this?"
We found ourselves spontaneously laughing at our silly jokes.
It was very precious to have a partner with whom you could enjoy even the most casual things.
At the very least, such a thing was not possible before I came to this city.
When we get something great, we naturally want to monopolize it.
Even if everything but her feelings for us was broken, we only wished for her to love us equally.
Almost there. Just a little more.
This was what I kept telling myself as I was watching Relie leave the church today with a smile on her face.
◇◇◇
Today once more, after I finished my business in the city, I sneaked into Ainelinne Lindforg's bedroom late at night.
Then, I grab her hand and stood still, looking down at her face.
She was perfectly cared for, possessing smooth skin.
The urge to touch it suddenly struck me.
I had been putting up with a lot of patience with Relie, causing me to feel frustrated.
However, it was still early in the harvest. In order to eat well, you had to wait for the right moment.
Holding my breath, I continued to hold Ai's hand.
And then, after about three hours of this process--
"Nnnn......."
Ai sounded as if she was having trouble sleeping.
Today, the air was damp and cold, and thus might certainly not made for a very good sleeping environment.
As I was observing Ai's sleeping face, her mouth turned into a frustrated grimace, she suddenly, without warning, opened her eyes.
Of course, with a quick glance, I was seen.
"Wh-"
Before she could scream and ask for my identity, I used my own lips to silence her.
"Nn....... Nn!? Nn--! Nnnn----!"
Of course, Ai resisted and flailed about, but she could not escape as her limbs had been bounds by shadows.
I firmly held her face with my hands, and just kept on stirring the inside of her mouth.
Then, it seemed that she realized "who I was".
Soon, there was no more resistance, eventually Ai became entranced and began to reciprocate my actions.
After all, girls were cuter when they were honest.
"Nfuu... chupuu, auuu.... haaa, nkuu...."
When she swallowed the drool that had run down her face, Ai's body temperature quickly spiked.
I could see it on her skin.
Seeing her being aroused by my own saliva also raised my voltage.
Perhaps because of this, I carefully licked and sucked every inch of her mouth, I gave her an unforgettable kiss which went on for dozen and dozen of minutes.
When I finally let go of her mouth, Ai asked with an ecstatic look on her face.
"You..... who might you be?"
"I am Chigusa. As you can see, your beloved vampire."
"I don't quite understand, but.....I, love you. Whatever you do, makes me happy..... why? How can this be, when this is the first time we met?"
I took her lips again, as if to say that I didn't care about the details.
Then, I took off the negligee she was wearing.
By the time my fingertips caressed her bare skin, Ai seemed to have forgotten any doubts she had had about me.
Wiggling her hips like a prostitute and begging me for more, I loved her until the mark appeared-- I quietly left the Lindforg house around dawn, not wanting anyone to find me.
In the room, only one woman was left behind, lying limp on the bed.
That woman, if even her name was Ainelinne, was no longer Ainelinne Lindforg.
Her white skin, her red eyes and sharp fangs were the proof of her transformation into a vampire, and that she had been welcomed into my family.
My daughter, who was born screaming in a frenzy with my fangs buried in her neck.
Now, the arrangements were in place to corrupt Relie.
All that was left was for Ai to move as I had instructed-- that is, to approve of the marriage of her brother, Dick, and his lover, Relie.
Then, she would become mine.
NB:
This chapter had two names to romanize.
First is Relie's sister, Milly (ミリィ). I used the same writting as in Milly Thompson (ミリィ・トンプソン) from Trigun.
Ainelinne Lindforg (アイネリンネ・リンドフォーグ) was quite interesting.
The first name is obvious a portmanteau from アイネ and リンネ. For アイネ, I used the writting for Aine (https://vndb.org/c27025) from Boku ga Tenshi ni Natta Wake, though there are quite a feew occurrences of this names in other works with the same spelling. Interestingly enough, it is an Irish name with the meaning brightness/spendor/radiance, which seems like a clear choice given the whole corruption theme.
リンネ was quite straightforward to spell as Linne, i.e. like in Under night in-birth (https://vndb.org/c72920) and other workds, with a choice of L instead of R to follow the usual romanization trend.
I did not find any reference for the last name, so I just methodically transcripted the katakana. In theory, I should have written リンドフォーグ as Lindfoog, with a long o, but -forg sounded better as a noble name, while keeping a longish o sound.
The title itself was especially painful to translate, so I kept it somewhat close to litteral (あなたを愛するために、両足を腐らせましょう). However, I am still not completely satisfied with it.
It seems to transcribe a somewhat dark romantic aspect of love, i.e. a willingness to give up everything for the sake of it, which could be appropriate in regards of this overall work.
It might also be an idiom with a specific traduction though, as the litteral translation does not seem to be referenced at any point in the chapter itself, beyond the usual twisted nature of vampiric love.
